"Ijen" is a fine art print created from a photograph of my painting shown at my first solo exhibition "Flashbacks". The work is based on a personal experience during a night ascent of the Ijen volcano on Java, Indonesia.
The climb was physically demanding and took place in darkness. Step by step, the landscape slowly revealed itself. When the sun began to rise, the view opened in a powerful and unforgettable way. The colors, the scale of the space, and the feeling of silence after effort left a deep and lasting impression on me.
This moment became a metaphor for a personal journey. The work reflects the idea that meaningful results often require patience, effort, and the courage to move forward without seeing the full picture. The calm surface and layered structure of the composition contrast with the memory of physical difficulty, creating a balance between struggle and clarity.
Please note:
- Possible color deviations are due to light, monitor and camera.
- For buyers outside the EU, additional duties and fees may apply.
Bio.
Konstantin Danilov (b. 1979, Moscow) is a painter and muralist based in Athens, Greece. A pioneer of Russia’s 1990s graffiti scene, his practice evolved toward Color Field painting, blending bold spatial compositions with psychological and emotional depth.
He has exhibited at major institutions such as the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, RuArts Foundation, and Burning Man x Sotheby’s (New York). His works are part of notable collections, including the STRAAT Museum (Amsterdam), Montresso Foundation, RuArts Foundation, and Sofia Trotsenko Collection.
Danilov has held solo shows at Triumph Gallery, Fineart Gallery, and Reloft Art in Moscow, and has participated in international fairs such as Urban Art Fair (Paris) and Affordable Art Fair (Amsterdam). His street art projects span over 20 countries, from Hong Kong to Paris and New York.
His work explores themes of emotional perception, ecological fragility, and transformation of personality and the interaction between one’s inner world and the external environment, including in the context of emigration. Using techniques such as painting around the edges of the canvas to reflect the hidden emotional layers that frame our conscious experience.
