Description from the seller

Pair of 19th-Century Decorative Putti with Musical Instruments – Spelter, c. 1860–1900
Description:
Attractive pair of 19th-century decorative figures modelled as winged putti, each depicted in animated pose playing musical instruments — one with a drum, the other with cymbals. The figures are cast in bronze-patinated spelter and display a warm, naturally aged surface patina.
The modelling is lively and expressive, with well-observed anatomical detail, flowing movement, and finely articulated wings. Both figures are mounted on their original turned wooden bases, retaining their original fixings.
Such musical putti were popular decorative subjects in the second half of the 19th century, inspired by Renaissance and Baroque prototypes and intended for display on mantels, consoles, or as part of an interior garniture.
Period:
Second half of the 19th century, circa 1860–1900
Original wooden bases
