Description from the seller

Set of 6 transparent crystal wine glasses marked underneath the base: Baccarat Harcourt model with Versailles cut. Renowned for its iconic design, it features an architectural shape: an extraordinary form, from the flat-cut pattern of the bowl to the beveled geometry of the stem that extends down to the hexagonal foot. The craftsmanship is evident in every detail of its regal and elegant shape. Drinking from an Harcourt 1841 glass means participating in the brand's history and an elegant past, produced in the 1960s/70s. Description: Panel cut design on the bowl, multi-faceted foot. Condition: Active. Current: 1841. The Baccarat glassworks was founded in 1765 by the Bishop of Metz, who aimed to promote industry in the small village of Baccarat, 400 kilometers east of Paris, France. The Sainte Anne glassworks of Baccarat produced all kinds of common glassware (windows, bottles, tableware) and survived the French Revolution (1789), but had to face the Napoleonic wars (1812-1815). The shifting of European borders after the wars moved the large French glassworks of Voneche, in northern France, into the newly formed Belgium. The owner of Voneche, a Parisian named Aime-Gabriel D'Artigues, purchased the Baccarat glassworks to relaunch his business in France and continue serving French customers without paying heavy import duties. The new Voneche-Baccarat company focused on producing high-quality lead crystal. In 1822, D'Artigues sold the glassworks, and the new owners founded the Compagnie des Cristalleries de Baccarat (keeping Voneche as part of the name until 1843). After winning medals at major Paris exhibitions in 1823, the company soon became (and remains today) France's leading glassworks. The town of Baccarat is now almost exclusively dedicated to glassmaking, with factories, museums, and shops, and has become a tourist destination for visitors worldwide. Dimensions: height 13.5 x diameter 8.2 cm.
