A copy of La Lena. Comedia by Ludovico Ariosto, published in Venice in 1538 by Vettor de Ravaniani et compagni, 1st edition in this format, 32 unnumbered pages, softcover bound in nineteenth‑century marbled card, original frontispiece replaced by a facsimile but otherwise complete, in very good to good condition with externally trimmed margins.

A very rare edition of the comedy 'La Lena' by Ludovico Ariosto (1474-1533), first performed in 1529 and considered by many to be the masterpiece of Ariosto's theater. Rich in Plautine and Boccaccian reminiscences, it reflects the customs of a decadent and cynically corrupt society” (Renda-Operti, p. 73).
