Description from the seller

Wiener Bronze – Traveling Anthropomorphic Bird

Exceptional cold-painted polychrome bronze figurine representing an anthropomorphic bird in
walks, holding a cane and carrying a hiking backpack on his back.

This work is firmly within the tradition of the Wiener Bronzen (Bronzes of Vienna), an Austrian production from the late 19th century renowned for its anthropomorphized animal subjects and its delicate humor.

The modeling exhibits great finesse: a long curved beak, an expressive gaze, a green polychrome jacket,
Rolled-up pants and a rolled bag, accompanied by a textured basket.

Technical specifications
• Non-magnetic bronze (old copper alloy)
• Original cold polychromy with consistent wear.
• Old assembly with visible rivets beneath the base.
• Engraved workshop numbering: model no. 2544
• Internal assembly number or inscription under the thigh, difficult to decipher
• Uniform, aged patina, unrestored
• Original rectangular base

Dimensions & Dating
Height: 6.5 cm without a base.
Base width: approximately 4.5 cm

Dating: around 1890–1910
Origin: Austria

A very beautiful authentic example of late 19th-century Viennese aesthetics. A cabinet piece of
curiosities or specialized collectibles, sought after for their narrative character and charm
timeless.
