Herman Baert (Roeselaere, 9 oktober 1941). Painter, draughtsman, gouache artist and designer of clay sculptures. He finds his inspiration in the woman, whom he is able to depict in a very personal way and, from time to time, places in an art-historical context. His works breathe erotica and recall Paul Wunderlich and Hans Bellmer. The gouaches of Herman Baert stand out for an aesthetic refinement in which erotica is accorded an important role. The female body is depicted with a clear preference for suggestive iconography in brilliant lines and a sparkling color palette. The male pursuer is always nearby, even though he is not explicitly in view.
