Description from the seller
At the Water's Edge
Mirian Gomeli | Oil on Canvas | 120 × 100 cm | 2026
This work by Mirian Gomeli is far more than a landscape—it is a dramatic dialogue of feelings, emotions, and the force of nature. At the center is a small boat with a seated figure, lingering on the endless water, seemingly in a meditative moment in which time itself seems to fade. Above it rises a colorful wave, which symbolizes not only the power of nature but also memories, sounds, and the chaos of the modern world.
The painting technique is multi-layered and expressive. Cool blues and grays emphasize the depth and calm of the water, while pink, violet, and neon-colored accents create inner energy and dynamism. The surface is rich in gestural marks and textures, giving the small figure in the boat an intense contrast to the overwhelming size of the wave.
This painting is at once a portrait of inner states and a visual epic that speaks to the viewer with intense emotions—the tension between stillness and chaos becomes palpable. Signed and dated in the lower right, this underscores the uniqueness of the work.
