Flask - Majolica - Pilgrim's Flask

Pilgrim’s flask of Umbrian manufacture from the 19th century, lenticular (flattened) in shape, used by pilgrims to carry liquids, often hung from a shoulder strap. It could be made from various materials, including ceramic, metal, or glass, and often featured four small perforated side lugs to pass a cord through.
The object in the image: This specific piece is identified as an "orciolo" or pharmaceutical vase, Renaissance-style. It has an oval body with a disk base and two dragon-shaped handles that join the body with a mascaron. These orcioli were often used for pharmaceutical purposes or as decorative dining ware displayed on noble sideboards. Overall excellent condition as shown in the photo.
