Cornelis Bruinsma is a 20th-century painter and draughtsman from the province of Gelderland. He was born on August 7, 1942, in Hattum.
Cornelis Bruinsma lives and works in the Achterhoek region. The Achterhoek is also known as De Graafschap and is famous for its medieval towns, the endless forests with wonderfully hilly landscapes, and the tranquil rivers. A true muse for classical painters. It is therefore understandable that Cornelis Bruinsma has a preference for landscapes.
Cornelis Bruinsma quickly distinguished himself in his youth as a versatile draughtsman, through which he mastered the art of capturing the contours of landscapes in detail.
Logically, with De Achterhoek in mind, Cornelis Bruinsma later specialized in the classical art of Dutch landscapes, because this fascinates him so much. He also gained fame for his non-figurative canvases. In particular his summer landscapes, but above all his very refined winter landscapes, he managed to reach a wide audience and achieved great fame. His works were soon exhibited in Delft, Deventer, Apeldoorn, and Bocholt, among others.
