Description from the seller
Approximately 160 ex-libris / small print on name, approximately 155 x relief print, approximately 5 x intaglio print, made by the German artist Herbert Ott. Largely signed, affixed.
Herbert Ott was born on March 16, 1915 in Kulmbach and died on March 24, 1987 in Rödental / Oeslau (Lkr. Coburg).
He initially pursued training as a lithographer in Kulmbach, later continuing his studies at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Nuremberg, where he was taught by Rudolf Schiestl, Hermann Gradl, and Max Körner. Later he himself became, among other things, a teacher at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Nuremberg.
There are a great many watercolors, drawings, etchings and woodcuts by him. A very well-known 'product' of his was the ex libris. He also had a strong reputation abroad as an artist.
He was not only very talented but also very beloved as an artist, which earned him, among other things, a Citizen's Medal from the municipality of Rödental.
The formats are diverse; the largest 105x 5k mm, the smallest 20 x 30 mm. Original specimens, no replicas, all in decent to good condition.
The photos are part of the description.
