John (Jan) Bévort
(1917–1996) was a well-known Dutch painter who gained fame mainly as the 'Painter of Schoorl'. He is known for his powerful, impressionistic style in which he used almost exclusively the palette knife.

Background: Born on November 30, 1917 in Utrecht and died on January 31, 1996 in Schoorl. He studied at the Academie Artibus in Utrecht under Chris Agterberg and G. Nijenhuis.
