Carlo Borri, a self-taught Neapolitan painter born in 1952, approached painting in his childhood when he happened to meet the painter Roberto Cargnani, one of the last of the 19th-century artists. He opens the doors to the knowledge of Mancini, Irolli, Morelli, Michetti, as well as Sargent, not to mention Mariano Fortuny. Enamored with the painting skill of these artists, he begins an artistic journey based on the search for color and a very personal technique. His paintings, mostly from his early years, are in the homes of Neapolitan collectors and beyond. Like many old painters, he spent years working with art dealers who sold his canvases both in Naples and throughout Italy. His works can be found in some churches in the Neapolitan area and beyond. In addition to being a self-taught painter, Borri is also a decorator, engraver, stucco artist, and finally a specialist in the technique of faux marble.
