Victor Romanovitch Efimenko (1952 – 2017) was born into a family of artists. His first art teacher was his father, Roman Fedorovitch, a renowned Ukrainian painter-engraver, illustrator, native of the village Klepaly in Sumy Oblast. In 1975, Victor Efimenko completed his studies at the Crimean Art School named after N.S. Samokish (Simferopol). His teachers were F.Z. Zakharov, N.S. Morgun, P.K. Stolyarenko.
Since 1975, he has participated in regional and national art exhibitions. Member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine (1978). From 1975 to 1981, he lived and worked in Yalta. In 1982, he moved with his family to Sumy. President of the Sumy regional organization of the Union of Artists of Ukraine (1987–1989).
From 1993 to 1997, he lived and worked in France. Since 1991, he has participated in international exhibitions in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, the United Kingdom, Spain, etc. From 1997 to 2000, he worked with Dutch galleries, and since 2000, with the L-Art Gallery (Kyiv). Solo exhibitions in Kyiv (2001 – 2004, 2013), Sumy (2002), Brussels (2004), Ghent (Belgium, 2002 – 2003), Kharkiv (2007).
The artist's canvases are preserved in major museums, corporate and private collections in Russia and in the CIS countries. For the last twenty years of his life, the artist lived with his family in the village of Klepaly, located on the left bank of the Seim River. The picturesque region where Victor Romanovitch spent his childhood became the leitmotif of his work.
