This painting was born from an imagined field, more felt than truly observed. The poppies appear in fragments, in blotches, in gestures. They are not there to be counted, but to be perceived. The blue occupies almost everything — sometimes sky, sometimes water — and supports the reds that vibrate, emerge, then disappear.

I work with acrylics freely, letting the paint flow, splatter, and layer up. I love that moment when control loosens a bit and when the paint starts to decide with me. The green lines rise almost like impulses, trying to stand up, to cross the space.

There is no fixed landscape here. There is an atmosphere, a whisper, something that lies between nature and memory.

About the artist: Born in 1966, Jane Grièco is a Brazilian artist living in Brittany.
From her early days under the strong, relentless tropical sun, Jane has sought beauty in the thousands of shades of color that light makes shimmer.
