Neo-Classicism Column - 1800-1850 - Calacatta Oro

Wonderful Solomonic column, ancient from the early 1800s, in Calacatta Oro marble, the most prized marble drawn from the Carrara quarries in Italy, admired worldwide for its beauty and refinement, with its distinctive veining and the luminous white color enriched by golden hues that for centuries and still today, make this rare Italian marble one of the preferred choices for artworks and high-level decorations. The column consists of a magnificent tortile shaft in Calacatta Gold marble entirely hand-sculpted, set into a fixed marble base and topped with a cap resting with interlocking joints and equipped with a central hole for the possible insertion of a dowel (wood or iron) to make it even more stable (though it remains stable even without the dowel). The column comes from a private collection and is presented in very good condition given the centuries that have passed, a true work of art, rare, of great value and prestige.
