Description from the seller

Helmut Newton (1920 - 2004)
was a German-Australian photographer.

Since the 1970s, Newton was one of the world's most sought-after and expensive photographers in fashion, advertising, portrait, and nude photography. Among the celebrities he photographed were Helmut Kohl, Margaret Thatcher, Charlotte Rampling, Catherine Deneuve, Elizabeth Taylor, Romy Schneider, and Hanna Schygulla. In 1976, when Newton was already 56 years old, his first photobook White Women appeared, which shortly after its publication was awarded the Kodak Photobook Prize. In April 2000 Newton's so-called SUMO photo book caused a sensation, as the first copy—hand-signed by more than 100 of the famous personalities pictured in the book—sold at a charity auction for 620,000 DM, thereby breaking the record for the most expensive book of the 20th century.
