A pair of vintage wall sconces from the 1950s in Art Deco style, crafted with glass (mottled honey/ivory), brass, and alabaster, with one fitting each, about 30 cm high, 7 cm globe diameter, and 11 cm wall projection, in good vintage condition with patina and minor aging signs, made in Europe.
Description from the seller
Pair of mid-century wall sconces, circa 1950s, crafted with a refined combination of honey/ivory marbled glass, brass, and natural stone.
The wall sconces are characterized by spheres of marbleized alabaster glass, with organic and irregular veining that recall the aesthetics of onyx, capable of offering a sculptural and elegant presence even when unlit. The patinated brass structure preserves the original finish, with an authentic patina that attests to the passage of time and enhances its decorative value.
The design is enriched with turned elements in hardstone (onyx/alabaster), inserted along the shaft and in the lower terminal, details typical of Italian high-quality production from the mid-20th century. The ensemble reflects a harmonious balance between functionality and decoration, placing it between the late Art Deco language and the early Mid-Century Modern.
Dimensions:
• Overall height: approx. 30 cm
• Balloon diameter: approx. 7 cm
• Protrusion from the wall: approx. 11 cm
Conditions:
Good vintage condition. Patina, oxidation and slight signs of aging on the metal framework, consistent with its age and fully in keeping with an antique piece. Glass intact.
Ideal as a decorative pair for elegant interiors, hallways, bedrooms, or symmetrical installations, perfect for Mid-Century, classic, or eclectic settings.
