温土 (Ondo) - Japanese for warm ground) - is a large scale meditative painting that concentrates on the quiet presence of earth tones. Layers of burnt umber and yellow ochre flow into one another in soft horizontal bands, creating a field of deep, radiant brown that seems to hold a gentle inner warmth-like sun-heated soil or the last light on a hillside.

The surface is built with many thin, diluted applications of pigment, allowing the colour to sink into the weave of the canvas rather than forming a heavy skin. Subtle shifts in value, faint overlaps and small irregularities are intentionally left visible. These traces of water, gravity and brush embody a wabi-sabi sensibility: beauty in simplicity, in slight asymmetries and in the quiet record of process.

From a distance, 温土 reads as a minimal, almost monochrome plane of colour, viewed up close, it reveals fine granular textures and delicate tonal variations that invite slow, contemplative looking.
