Description from the seller
MiLo – “Obsidian Gap”
A work by Amsterdam-based artist MiLo (1976).
Obsidian Gap explores tension through separation and interruption. Broad, gestural movements in black, white, and grey form a dense, energetic surface that is abruptly divided by a dark central band. This division introduces a charged pause within the composition, holding the work in suspension between unity and fracture.
Sweeping strokes and scattered marks suggest motion and accumulation, while the central gap acts as a moment of silence and distance. The painting balances force and restraint, inviting the viewer to move between continuity and disruption as the surface unfolds.
The work can be hung in both horizontal and vertical orientations, allowing the perception of structure, flow, and division to shift with its presentation.
The painting will be rolled up and shipped in a sturdy tube or box, without frame, and includes a signed certificate of authenticity.
