Napoleon I commemorative tie clip in gilded bronze, original from France, dating to the late 19th century, signed by A. Seurre, with a 61 mm medal and a 95 mm bar, in good condition.
Description from the seller
Large Napoleonic tie bar – Portrait of Napoleon I signed A. Seurre – Gilt bronze – Late 19th century
Important and rare commemorative tie clip bearing the effigy of Napoleon I, depicting the famous profile in a bicorne, made of gilded bronze, signed A. Seurre.
The portrait, finely sculpted in relief, echoes the official Napoleonic iconography circulated at the end of the 19th century.
The signature A. Seurre, a French sculptor-medallist known for his historical and commemorative works, is clearly visible on the coin.
The reverse bears hammered workmanship, evidence of careful and old-fashioned craftsmanship. The fixing system with a central screw and threaded ball is sturdy and original, with a tubular bar characteristic of high-quality accessories from this period.
An object that is both decorative and historical, typical of the revival of the Napoleonic cult observed in France at the end of the 19th century, intended for a bourgeois or military clientele.
