Description from the seller

We present this ancient work (1750-1800 according to the information received) with no reserve price, of a typically Baroque taste. A superb and moving terracotta bust from the Franciscan convent Bosco ai Frati, in the heart of Mugello, a famous and ancient religious site with a long history, up to the acquisition of “Cosimo il Vecchio” (Cosimo de’ Medici) in 1420, which restored its vocation and the splendor it still possesses today.
The beautiful object, the product of popular art, is inspired by themes such as 'the Passion of Christ', capturing a moment of intense religious emotion typical of Baroque sacred art and that which followed. Rich in charm and history, its gaze, colors and details are absolutely authentic and inspired.
In 2019 it was damaged by the earthquake that occurred in the area, and we took care of it at that moment, reattaching the left shoulder portion that had been damaged in the event (see last image).
It will be placed in a suitable small box for transporting similar items, and shipped insured.
