Vintage table roulette in lacquered solid wood with a brass mechanism, probably USA, dating to 1940–1950, 34 cm in diameter and width, 9.5 cm in height; good original condition with minor signs of wear; the mechanism is complete but does not run freely and may require adjustment.
Description from the seller
For sale is a decorative, collectible tabletop roulette in a classic design, made of lacquered solid wood with a brass mechanism.
The roulette is impressive for its high-quality craftsmanship and authentic appearance. The solidly turned wooden shell shows a lovely age-related patina and underscores the historic character of the gaming device. In the rim of the wheel there are inlaid brass markings, as used on classic roulette tables.
The central rotor is made of brass with ornamentally designed arms and traditional axle construction. The number ring displays the classic color scheme of red, black, and green and corresponds to the European roulette arrangement with a single zero.
Such table roulette games were commonly used in the early to mid-20th century as parlor or recreational games in private game rooms, clubs, or bars, and today they have a high decorative and cultural-historic collectible value.
