Description
Rare and exceptionally richly illustrated 18th-century devotional book, printed in Brussels by J.J. Boucherie, printer and bookseller on Keizersstraat.
The work contains as many as 56 finely executed copper engravings, signed “Klauber Cath. sc. et exc.”, originating from the renowned Klauber workshop in Augsburg, internationally known for its high-quality religious engravings.
Such a high number of engravings is exceptional for a devotional book from this period, and makes this copy particularly collectible.
Bound in the original 18th-century leather binding with gold-stamped spine decoration. The book is complete and in good, authentic condition, with normal signs of aging and wear appropriate to its age.
An attractive collector's item for lovers of old books, religious art, copper engravings, and South Netherlandish printing.
