AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Rare and collectible vase made by Italian pottery manufacturer Cantagalli in Florence in the late 19th century. The vase is in Iznik Damascus style, decorated underglaze in green, cobalt blue and black on a white ground with tulips issuing from single "cintamani" motifs.

The famous Cantagalli Mark, a "singing cockerel", can be found under the base of the vase.

Please note, as seen in the pictures, the vase has some flaws and restorations which were carried out at some point in the past. There is a hole in the bottom, presumably to convert the vase into a lamp. Nonetheless it remains a beautiful and decorative object.

The vase measures 27 cm in height, with a diameter of 12 cm.

Cantagalli pottery with this Iznik motif, and surahi vases such as this one, are highly sought after collectors' items.
An identical vase was sold at Christie's Arts & Textiles of the Islamic & Indian Worlds auction on 9 October 2015 (lot 448) for 9,375 GBP.
