Description from the seller
Description of the Work
A fascinating fusion between the cosmic horror of sci-fi cinema and the millennia-old tradition of Japanese art. This illustration reinterprets the iconic Xenomorph (Alien) as if it were a mythological creature from an ancient bestiary of the Edo period.
The creature is depicted with a technique reminiscent of Sumi-e (ink on paper), perched with unsettling elegance on a twisted cherry tree. The composition is enriched with classical elements: a pagoda veiled in fog, a stone lantern (tōrō), and delicate cherry blossom petals that contrast with the biomechanical and skeletal structure of the monster.
Il Collettivo: SSICK LAB We are a collective of Italian young artists around 24 years old, born and raised with a visceral passion for art and pop culture. SSICK LAB began as a creative workshop where we experiment with the fusion between the iconic aesthetics of contemporary media and historical visual languages.
