Spectacular painting of the 20th century.
Vividly depicts a nautical scene from a bygone era, dominated by imposing sailing ships that cut through a turbulent sea.
In the foreground stands a lavishly decorated ship, with the red, white, and blue flag fluttering in the wind and the sails billowing, some worn, a sign of battles or long voyages. The stormy sky, pierced by clouds and flashes of light, amplifies the drama of the scene, while in the distance, other vessels can be seen, adding depth to the maritime landscape.
The artist, with vigorous brushstrokes and warm colors, clearly draws inspiration from the Dutch and Flemish Seventeenth-century tradition, blending realism and heroic tension.
To complete the work, a magnificent gilded frame finely carved, decorated with acanthus leaf motifs, elegantly and majestically frames the scene, creating a perfect balance between the fury of the sea and the solemnity of art.
