Description from the seller
Rare monumental coffered frame – solid ebonized wood – circa 1913
Style: Eclecticism / Neo-Renaissance
Material: high-quality solid wood
Period: 1910-1919 (certified by a series of contemporaneous paintings dated 1913)
Up for auction: a prestigious monumental frame in solid wood, an exemplar of the excellence of early 20th-century artistic craftsmanship.
The piece, weighing about 7 kg, is an authentic artifact from the era (1913), originally part of a series of contemporaneous works.
Structure: deep 'box' moulding with a thickness of 6 cm that provides an extraordinary three-dimensionality.
Decoration: an ebonized finish enriched by refined polychrome decorations in botanical motifs and grotesques of Flemish taste.
