Description from the seller
Oil on canvas from 1972 with a contemporary frame. On the back: a label and a stamp with the number 1807 "Galleria Accademia" Turin. On the front: dated and signed lower right.
Attilio Scarfì was an Italian painter from Arona, in the province of Novara. His artistic production is characterized by a rich chromatic and luminous expressiveness, capable of conveying intense emotional sensations: "Fragments, snails, piled rubble... forge a language that the outside world interprets at the level of the deepest emotions. One first experiences the power, sometimes the violence, of the chromatic and luminous expressiveness." (Rosella Miraglia)
His works – often large-format, made with oil paint, enamel, or mixed media – display intense gestures and sketch a suggestive path that stimulates an open and free imagination and urges the viewer to rework shapes and figures that emerge from the visual material.
