Antonii Perezii, Institutiones Imperiales, a Latin, original-language legal treatise dating from 1689, comprising 520 pages in a 17 cm by 10 cm format, in good condition with a period-style full calf binding from the era.
Description from the seller
The Imperial Institutes by Antonius Perezius, published in 1689, are a legal work that sits within the tradition of legal education founded on Roman law. Inspired by Justinian’s Institutes, the text offers an orderly and pedagogical presentation of the fundamental principles of civil law, aimed above all at students and practitioners. Perezius seeks to clearly expose the essential notions — persons, property, obligations, and actions — while adapting them to the legal context of the modern era. The work thus combines fidelity to the Roman sources with a concern for systematization, typical of the legal thought of the seventeenth century, where imperial law is regarded as a rational and universal foundation for the training of jurists.
PEREZII, Antonii - Imperial Institutes Distinct by Erotematibus. And, from the very principles and rules of the Law, inserted throughout, are explained. The latest edition purged of faults.
Paris, 1689.
1 volume, 12mo, 520 pages + index.
Full calf binding from the period in very good condition. Ornately bound spine with raised bands, gold tooling well preserved. Wear from use at the corners and at the head and tail caps. Interior well preserved, fairly fresh. Small handwritten notes at the beginning of the volume.
