Statue, Madonna lignea - 51 cm - Wood

Hand-carved wooden sculpture, produced from a log worked with great skill, deliberately left massive and vertical to integrate the figure with the original material.

The handcrafted work depicts the Madonna with the Child Jesus in a frontal, restrained pose, in which the maternal gesture emerges with naturalness and delicacy.
The Madonna is wrapped in a mantle with deep, skilfully sculpted folds that reveal the skillful control of the chisel and confer rhythm and verticality to the composition. The faces, crafted with extreme precision, are serene and essential, yet capable of conveying sweetness and protection.

The wood has a warm reddish-brown tone, enhanced by a finish that brings out its grain.
The marks of the carving are visible, left intentionally as a testament to the manual work, while the upper part of the trunk, less refined, creates a dialogue between the carved form and the raw material, highlighting the sculptor's skill and the authentic character of the work.
