Description from the seller
General Information
Artist: Bob Dylan
Album: Bob Dylan (Self-Titled Debut)
Label: Columbia
Catalog Number: CS 8579 (Stereo)
Format: Vinyl, LP, Album, Stereo, Reissue
Description
This is the stereophonic version of Bob Dylan’s 1962 debut album. The front cover features the iconic Don Hunstein photograph of a young Dylan. This specific copy is a mid-to-late 1960s reissue, identified by the red "Stereo" logo with horizontal arrows at the top of the jacket. The cover also retains the mono catalog number (CL 1779) under "The Record Shop" sticker, which was common during the transition period when Columbia used "universal" jacket designs for both formats.
Condition
Factory SEALED, never opened.
Front Cover: Generally well-preserved color. There is a vintage "The Record Shop" price/store sticker in the upper left corner.
Back Cover: Significant "foxing" (age-related brown spotting) is visible throughout the white areas.
Edges/Corners/Shrink: Visible wear on shrink and corners. The spine text remains legible.
Notes for collectors
The "S" Mark: The small "S" printed on the back cover is a printer’s mark. In Columbia’s production history, this often indicates the jacket was printed for or by the Santa Maria, California plant.
Pressing Era: Because it features the red stereo arrows and the "CS 8579" catalog number on the spine, this pressing likely dates from the mid-1960s (circa 1965–1967).
Authenticity: This is a genuine vintage US pressing. While not the 1962 "first state" (which is exceptionally rare in stereo), it is a desirable early-era reissue from Dylan’s peak years.
Matrix/Labels
Matrix: (To be confirmed by inspecting the dead wax/runout area of the vinyl).
Labels: Likely features the Columbia "360 Sound" Stereo labels in white or black text, depending on the exact year of the pressing.
