Porcelain chalice dating to 1910–1920, Italian origin, in good vintage condition with minimal wear to the gilding near the rim, measuring 19.5 cm high and 7.5 cm in diameter.
Description from the seller
Ornate goblet in Capodimonte style – putto relief and gilded ornament – hand-painted – Italy, 20th century.
For sale is a splendid ornamental goblet made of fine porcelain, crafted in the classic Neapolitan style. The piece stands out for its lively, sculptural detailing and the typically colorful figural decoration.
Decor & Design:
Central motif: an elaborately worked high-relief depicting an ancient Bacchanal scene. Several putti (child figures) are depicted amid lush grapevines, leaves, and bunches of grapes.
• Colorfulness: The figures and floral elements are hand-painted and refined with glossy gold accents at the edges and at the base.
• Construction: The chalice is made in two parts and—as is common for this manufacturing method—firmly connected to the foot by a central metal screw inside.
Marking & Origin:
• Underglaze-blue crown mark (five-pointed crown over an "N") in the style of the Capodimonte manufactory.
• Model number: 1564, embossed on the back.
state
The chalice is in very good vintage condition.
• Important notice: At the top edge there are minimal, age-related signs of use (slight wear to the gilding as well as the smallest irregularities in the glaze).
• No major chipping on the delicate fingers of the putti or on the leaf tips, which is rare for this model.
A beautiful hand-painted porcelain chalice in the Neapolitan Capodimonte style. The body features a detailed high-relief scene of "Bacchanalian" cherubs (putti) playing with grapevines and leaves.
Markings:
• Blue crowned "N" mark on the bottom.
• Incised model number "1564".
Condition:
The chalice is in good vintage condition. It shows minimal signs of wear along the upper rim (slight rubbing of the gold gilding due to age). There are no major cracks or large chips. Please refer to the close-up photos for a detailed view of the rim's condition.
Details:
• Two-part construction, traditionally joined by a central metal screw at the base.
• Vibrant hand-painted colors and classic gilded accents.
