The artist's explanation of the work
This work arose from my fascination with Asian night streets, where artificial light becomes emotional matter. In Kobe, neon lights are not only there to illuminate: they envelop, isolate, they tell stories. The characters are deliberately reduced to silhouettes, to make room for the atmosphere, for that sense of walking with no clear destination, typical of port cities at night.
