You are bidding on a very fine and rare 3/4 violin, labeled Petrus Sgarabotto Mediolani fecit Parmae anno Domini 1956. The instrument is in ready to play condition with some tears and wears but no visible cracks.
The violin has an excellent straight high grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of strongly flamed maple with matched neck and scroll. The purfling is professionally executed and the edges are masterfully done. The violin is ready to pay with new ebony pegs and old master made bridge. The whole length of the violin is 552 mm and the back 338 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 154 mm; middle bouts: 102 mm; lower bouts: 193 mm. The sound of this instrument is of a charming character, rich, warm, sweet and beautiful colors, depth and great carrying power.
