Description from the seller
First edition of the volume that gathers the SX-70 Polaroids taken by Christopher Makos from the late seventies to the early eighties: portraits, still lifes, fragments of New York life populated by Andy Warhol, Debbie Harry, John F. Kennedy Jr., friends, lovers and figures of the downtown scene. The book was published on the occasion of the eponymous show at the Photology Gallery in Milan in 2009, with an introduction signed by Calvin Klein.
Makos – a student of Man Ray, described by Warhol as "the most modern photographer in America", author of White Trash (1977) and Warhol/Makos In Context (2007) – was the photographer who taught Warhol to use his first camera and who introduced him to Basquiat and Haring. The Polaroids collected in this volume are the most immediate and private testimony of that world.
New book, still sealed.
The interior images come from another personal copy of the book.
