Description from the seller

Dear Bidders,
thank you for your interest in my offer.

I'm offering here a rare pair of sculptural ceramic vases designed by Gerald and Gotlind Weigel, renowned German studio ceramic artists.
Produced in the late 20th century (circa 1980s–1990s), these vases reflect a strong modernist / minimalist aesthetic with architectural, almost totem-like forms.

The design is defined by clean geometric lines, subtle relief details, and a restrained, matte dark glaze that emphasizes form over decoration. Their sculptural character places them at the intersection of functional object and art piece, typical of high-quality German studio ceramics of this period.

Works by Gerald & Gotlind Weigel are rarely found on the market, especially as a matching pair, making these vases particularly desirable for collectors of contemporary ceramics and design objects.

SOME GENERAL INFORMATIONS:
Gerald and Gotlind Weigel are German studio ceramic artists active mainly in the late 20th century. They are known for their architectural, sculptural approach to ceramics, where form, proportion and surface play a more important role than decoration. Their works often feature geometric, minimalist shapes with subtle reliefs and muted, earthy or dark glazes.

The Weigels worked within the tradition of German studio ceramics, creating small-series or unique pieces rather than mass-produced designs. Their objects blur the line between functional ceramics and sculptural art, which makes them sought after by collectors. Pieces by Gerald & Gotlind Weigel are rare on the secondary market, especially complete pairs or sets in good condition.
