Description from the seller
Description
An elegant Japanese lacquerware bowl set featuring refined gold maki-e fan motifs on a deep black lacquer ground, with a rich vermilion interior.
The design is inspired by classical court fans (ōgi)—a traditional symbol of prosperity, celebration, and continuity in Japanese art.
The bowls display excellent balance and craftsmanship, with smooth lacquer surfaces and finely executed gold decoration that subtly catches the light. The interiors show a vivid red lacquer, enhancing both visual depth and ceremonial presence.
This set is preserved together with its original wooden storage box, bearing Japanese calligraphy, which adds provenance and strong collector appeal. Ideal for collectors of Japanese lacquerware, chado (tea ceremony) utensils, or decorative Asian art, as well as for long-term investment in traditional crafts.
