Description from the seller
Item Description
This elegant celadon vase showcases the refined artistry of Japanese pottery tradition. Created by a Kyoto-based artist using the artistic name "Heian Goun," this piece exemplifies the serene beauty characteristic of Japanese celadon glazing techniques.
The vase features a gracefully elongated form with a gently tapered body that creates a sophisticated silhouette. The surface is adorned with beautifully carved vertical ribbing that flows from top to bottom, creating a rhythmic pattern reminiscent of bamboo or natural grooves. The celadon glaze displays a captivating range of soft green tones, from pale jade to deeper forest hues, with natural variations that occur during the firing process. This glaze pooling creates an organic, flowing effect that enhances the carved texture beneath.
The piece demonstrates exceptional craftsmanship in both its form and surface treatment. The vertical carved lines add dimensional depth and visual interest, while the translucent quality of the celadon glaze allows light to interact beautifully with the textured surface. The rim is clean and elegantly finished, and the base shows careful attention to detail with a well-formed foot ring.
This vase comes with its original wooden storage box (tomobako) inscribed with "Bijutsu Kabin" (Art Vase), which authenticates its status as a decorative art piece rather than merely utilitarian pottery. The artist's seal is impressed on the base.
Perfect for displaying ikebana arrangements or as a standalone decorative object, this vase brings a sense of tranquility and refined aesthetic sensibility to any interior space. Its timeless design harmonizes traditional Japanese ceramic artistry with contemporary minimalist aesthetics.
