Fabio Bonini’s Blue Drift (2026) is an original, unique oil painting on shellac‑prepared cardboard, 70 × 50 cm, signed and dated on the back, with a certificate of authenticity, produced in Italy and sold directly by the artist.
Description from the seller
Fabio Bonini (1965, Italy) – contemporary Italian painter.
Title: Blue Drift
Year: 2026
Technique: oil on shellac-primed cardboard.
The shellac is applied to the support to seal the cardboard, stiffen it, and create a slightly glossy, durable surface on which the oil layers and the drips remain highly defined.
Dimensions: 70 × 50 cm (height × width), without a frame.
Signature: signed and dated on the back by the artist.
Edition: single work, not part of an edition.
Origin:
– artist's studio, Parma (Italy).
The work is sold directly by the author.
Documentation:
– certificate of authenticity issued and signed by the artist, with title, year, technique, and dimensions.
Description of the work
Blue Drift shows a female figure emerging from a flat background, in an intense, uniform blue. The body is built with thick, highly tactile oil strokes, in which skin tones, greens, reds, and yellows do not blend smoothly but remain as fragments. The face is slightly in profile, with the eyes almost closed: a poised, suspended stance, between concentration and distance.
The contrast between the calm blue background and the restlessness of the painted surface creates a continuous tension between serenity and unease. The drips and impasto areas are an integral part of the artist's language and reveal the working process.
Conditions:
Work in excellent condition, new, never framed or exhibited outside the studio. No restorations. Any slight surface irregularities, craquelure and variations in sheen are due to the technique (thick oil on shellac-prepared cardboard) and should be considered an integral part of the work.
Shipping
The artwork will be shipped in a cardboard tube, carefully packed with protective material, and a tracking number.
Artist biography
Fabio Bonini (1965, Italy) is a figurative-expressionist painter. He graduated as Maestro d’Arte from the P. Toschi Art Institute in Parma.
He has spent many years working in restoration and in the antiques sector, focusing on the conservation of churches and historic buildings; from this comes his attention to materials, surfaces, and the traces of time.
The artist works predominantly in oil on shellac-prepared cardboard, with a physical painting made of thick layers, drips, and controlled accidents. Recent works use the female body as a field of tension between form and dissolution, avoiding an illustrative or narrative approach.
