Joseph R. Salas Martinez, Cuban artist and designer, was born in 1949; since 1972 he studied typography and graphic design at the San Alejandro Academy in Havana and participated in Professor German Sittauer's design course.
In 1973, he began to work as a graphic designer and participated in the III Juvenile Hall of Art; three years later, in 1976, he joined the Hermanos Saiz Association. In 1981, he founded the group 'Free Time' with four other designers. In 1992, he joined the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) and began to work as an independent artist. In 1997, he joined the 'Paysage du projet'.
