Description from the seller
Old set of 9 issues from the iconic monthly magazine "Popular Mechanics," published in the United States in 1947. The 9 issues are all from different months of 1947, and they come in a beautiful wooden box. These magazines are in good condition, considering they are almost 80 years old. They are highly illustrated magazines and authentic time capsules, with articles related to post-war technology and lovely advertisements from the era.
Popular Mechanics was founded as a weekly in Chicago by Henry Haven Windsor, with the first issue dated January 11, 1902. Its concept was that it would explain "how the world works" in simple language, with photos and illustrations to aid understanding. For decades, its slogan was: "Written so you can understand." It is a popular science and technology magazine, covering automotive, domestic, outdoor, electronics, scientific, do-it-yourself, and technological topics. Military topics, aviation and transportation of all kinds, space, tools and devices are commonly covered.
In September 1902, the magazine, previously weekly, became monthly. The Popular Mechanics Company was owned by the Windsor family and printed in Chicago until Hearst Corporation bought the magazine in 1958.
This box weighs approximately 5kg and is a genuine time capsule. It's a must-have for any enthusiast of vintage technology and advertising. This box adds a special touch to any collection. Don't miss the opportunity to own a piece of history.
The last three images are merely informative and are not part of the lot.
