Description from the seller
Kyusu Japanese ceramic teapot of the Tokoname type, made from natural red clay (shudei), characteristic of this region renowned for functional teapots designed for green tea. The piece is produced by the Raifūdō workshop (頼鳳堂), as indicated by the inscriptions and seals on the original wooden box.
The lid is adorned with a carved button depicting turtles, a traditional motif associated with longevity. An original label indicates “深むし用急須” (fukamushi-yō kyusu), signaling a teapot specially designed for infusing fukamushi green teas, with a metal filter suitable for fine leaves.
