AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

A beautiful small work, probably an early piece by the artist from his arrival in Paris in the 1900s.
In fairly good condition; may require a little cleaning.

At the age of 20, Muret goes to Paris where he becomes a student of Gustave Courtois and of Henri Carot, who introduces him to glassmaking.
Back in Switzerland, he settled in 1904 in Lens in Valais and built a house there. He painted a large part of his work in this village and also devoted a number of paintings and writings to his hunting trips with Charles Ferdinand Ramuz, led by Joseph Bonvin de Chelin. Several notable figures, such as Ramuz, René Auberjonois and Igor Stravinsky, stayed at his Lens house.
In 1919, he leaves Valais and returns to Lavaux.
