A superb complete collection of Ambroise Paré's Works (father of modern surgery), published in 1983 by the Union Latine d'Éditions. It is the first fully comprehensive edition translated into modern French, making these historical texts accessible and fascinating.
Features of the specimen
Limited edition: Numbered copy DXLI (541) from a run of 3,000 copies reserved for members of the Book Club (total run of 5,000).
Prestige binding: full burgundy calfskin, spine with raised bands adorned with gold fleurons, boards stamped with royal arms. Gilt top edges.
Paper: Printed on Renage white vellum by master printer Draeger.
Contents: 3 volumes of text richly illustrated and 1 volume of detailed index.
Condition status
Interior: Like new. The volumes have never been opened (great freshness of the pages and the binding).
Exterior: Overall excellent condition. Note only a small snag on the top of the spine of volume 1 (see photos). The other volumes and the cases are impeccable.
