Vrouw bij waterput is an oil-on-canvas painting by the Italian School (XX) in Impressionist style, signed Berteli, depicting a rural day scene with a young woman by a water pump, with frame, measuring about 50 cm high by 44 cm wide (frame included) and weighing 3 kg, in good condition.
Description from the seller
Atmospheric oil painting on canvas, signed in the lower right “Berteli” (notably with one 'l' instead of the more common spelling “Bertelli” – possibly a variant, pseudonym, or personal signature of the artist). It depicts an idyllic, rustic scene: a young woman in traditional dress from that era by an old water pump in a stone-paved street with steps, surrounded by shady trees, a house with an open door and warm, green tones. An impressionistic brushwork with loose strokes and a nostalgic atmosphere — typical of the 1930s-1940s in Italian or Southern European painting.
Dimensions including frame: approx. 50 cm high × 44 cm wide × 6 cm deep (canvas approx. 30–40 cm).
Frame: antique-looking wooden frame with a gold-toned patina and craquelé effect (old-fashioned charm).
Condition: Good vintage – light craquelure and patina on the paint (typical for oil on canvas from that period). In the top left corner is a small area professionally restored (see close-up photo; barely visible in normal light). The frame shows signs of wear (small crack in the corner). No major damage or further restorations visible. The painting remains bright and expressive; ready to hang.
Ideal for collectors of impressionist landscapes and genre scenes, or as a warm, atmospheric accent in the living room, hallway, or country-style interior. A charming, intimate work with a nostalgic atmosphere!
