Jewellery box - .800 silver - punched with agate

Antique jewelry box / case in 800/1000 silver, hallmarked, European craftsmanship, dating from the late 19th – early 20th century (circa 1880–1910).

The jewelry box is richly hand-engraved with floral motifs and scrollwork in a late 19th-century style.
The lid is embellished with a natural agate cabochon, characterized by distinctive bands that are consistent with the stone and with the production of the era.

Completely gilded interior (vermeil), with its original gilding well preserved, intended to protect jewelry and small precious objects.
The structure rests on shaped feet and is equipped with an original, functioning hinge.

There is an “800” hallmark inside an oval cartouche, visible in the photograph, typical of continental European silverware from the late 19th to the early 20th century, guaranteeing the fineness of the silver.

Object in good overall condition, with a patina of age consistent with its age and free of invasive restorations.
Not polished to preserve its historical authenticity.
