Gueorgui Pinkhassov presents Nordmeer, a 1st edition, 2006 hardback photography book in German (original language) published by mareverlag GmbH, 136 pages with unpaginated plates, 27 × 30 cm, including plates out of text and a fine art print from the book, with excellent (Ottime) condition and a small cover defect.
Description from the seller
Nordmeer is an iconic photographic book by master Gueorgui Pinkhassov (Russian photographer of international fame, Magnum Photos member) that documents in a unique and poetic way the universe of the Arctic Ocean and the North Sea through extraordinary color images.
The volume stems from eight trips undertaken by Pinkhassov to the high latitudes for the publishing house mare, exploring remote regions such as the Norwegian fjords, Greenland’s glaciers, Siberian winter, northern Canada and Inuit communities.
The photographer captures striking contrasts: from the dazzling light of Arctic summer nights to the deep shadows of polar winter, passing through the everyday life of fishermen, hunters and sailors, in a kaleidoscope of light, wild nature and human vitality.
The book, awarded in Germany as one of the best photobooks of the year 2006/2007, is enriched by texts by journalist Dimitri Ladischensky that accompany and amplify Pinkhassov’s visual vision.
Small defect on the cover (see photo) and a few page corners. Images flawless.
