AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Silver tea and coffee set (London, 1826), by master John Angell I

Exceptional tea and coffee set made of sterling silver (Sterling .925), consisting of a coffee pot, teapot, sugar bowl and milk jug.

The pieces feature rich ornamental work with embossed and chiseled reliefs of putti, mythological figures and floral motifs, in the Regency style with Rococo Revival influences.

The handles are made of original carved ivory from the period.
• Contrasts: lion's head (Sterling), crowned leopard (London), bust of George IV, date 'l' (1826), and master mark 'J·A' = John Angell I.
Large coffee and tea pot, sugar bowl and jug provided (detailed dimensions upon request)
• Condition: Very good overall condition, with minor wear and minor signs of use due to age. The frame and handles remain solid and stable.

Artistic and historical value

John Angell I (1783–1850) was a London master silversmith, registered in 1811, renowned for his tea sets, trophies, and fine jewelry. His works, which predate the firm "John Angell & Son," are now rare and highly sought after by international collectors.

A very high-quality set, representative of the finest English silverware from the late Regency period, ideal for both its artistic and historical value.

The total weight - 2965 g.
