Aniello Eco (1919-2000) - I chierichetti della parrocchia

Original watercolor on cardboard by the Italian painter Aniello Eco (Torre del Greco, 1919/2000), depicting a scene of parish religious life with altar servers during a liturgical function.
The work, titled "The Parish Altar Servers", is signed at the bottom right and titled at the bottom left, elements that confirm its authenticity.
The subject is typical of the artist's production, known for attention to daily, popular religiosity, rendered with a concise brushwork and a warm and harmonious palette.
Particularly evocative is the use of watercolor, with soft glazes and an effective play of light and shadow; the smoking thurible constitutes the narrative focal point of the composition.
A work of good painting quality, ideal for collectors of Italian 20th-century art and religious subjects. It presents in excellent overall condition, although two imperceptible stains should be noted, at the bottom left, corner of the matting. The dimensions of the drawing alone are: about 29 cm x 20 cm. The painting is framed at the frame shop "Luigi Zampini" in the artist's hometown (see back of the work).
