Chinese wooden treasure box with gold gilt in a pebble form, second half of the 20th century, featuring Shishi guardians and a brocade ball, dimensions 15 cm high by 26 cm wide by 25.5 cm deep, in good condition with small signs of ageing.

An impressive and substantial gilt-lacquer box of rare organic form, masterfully executed in the Miaojin (gilt-lacquer) technique. The cover is finely decorated with a spirited scene of two Shishi (Guardian Lions) frolicking with a brocade ball (shishi-mari) amidst stylized auspicious clouds and floating motifs.
Condition
In general very good condition. Gold Gilding on foo dogs outstanding. The box is presented in an honest, unrestored antique condition. It exhibits characteristic age-related soft wear.
